The autumn’s work begins with the never-ending job of clearing out ditches, to keep water flowing and prevent floods through the winter. One volunteer also dug out a pile of old ballast from beside the track, to be put to good use elsewhere.
Here the old ballast is being washed ready for reuse.
The works train testing out a section of track where rusted sleepers had just been replaced and re-ballasted.
Work begins on the next section of lineside fence – from the old level crossing to the far end of the pond loop.
A few days of hard work later and this section of new fence is all done.
The old gate was welded up and repainted to complete the job.
