SUMMARY:Heritage Open Day - behind the scenes at Thorpe Light Railway
DESCRIPTION:As part of the national Heritage Open Days Festival\, we will be open on Saturday 17 September. Come along and find out about the history of the railway and the work the volunteers have been doing to restore and maintain it. We’ll be running short rail tours (leaving approx 1pm\, 2pm and 3pm\, depending on demand) so you can get behind-the-scenes\, see the work we’ve been doing and stop at parts of the railway the train usually whizzes past! \nEntry is free (donations welcome). We’re open from 12.30pm – 3.30pm.

DESCRIPTION:Our final open day of the 2019 season. Come and visit Thorpe Light Railway before we close for winter maintenance. The locomotive will be our regular diesel Severn Lamb Rio Grande. Once again\, drinks and light snacks will be available to buy from The Barista Sisters. \nPLEASE NOTE – Whorlton bridge is currently closed to motor vehicles\, so access to the railway is either via the A66 or via Winston bridge and Ovington. The bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists\, so you can still get to us from Whorlton village if you walk or come on your bike.

DESCRIPTION:Looking for something to do with the family in the summer holidays? What could be better than a picnic and a train ride on a narrow gauge railway? Just bring your picnic and buy a freshly-brewed Italian coffee or an ice-cold drink from The Barista Sisters coffee wagon.
